In a $6T industry, simplicity still wins.

In a $6T industry, simplicity still wins.

THIS MONTH, we’re going back to basics, simplicity, consistency & what actually works.

Wellness has evolved rapidly over the past decade. What was once a niche space is now a global industry worth over $6 trillion, driven by innovation, new technologies and an ever growing demand for better health.

And while some of it is genuinely exciting, not all of it is necessary. Because beneath the trends and formulations, your biology hasn’t changed.

LONG BEFORE COLLAGEN WAS A TREND, we were setting the bar

Over a decade ago, long before collagen was trending, Edible Health was founded by Simon and Corinna through their own journey into health and wellbeing. At the time, this wasn’t a crowded space. Collagen wasn’t widely understood, and it certainly wasn’t being marketed by celebrities or positioned as a quick fix.

From the beginning, the focus was never on following trends or building hype. It was on creating something people could trust, something consistent, high quality, and fairly priced, without inflating value through marketing or noise.

Ten years later, the industry looks very different. New brands launch daily, often built around visibility rather than substance. But our approach hasn’t changed.

We’ve stayed small, intentionally. A family run business, where every product is considered, every decision is deliberate and every customer matters. When you reach out, you speak to one of us. No layers, no distance, just real people behind the brand.

Because for us, it’s about doing it properly.

WHY COLLAGEN, and why it works

It won’t promise dramatic weight loss or instant transformation, because no supplement, oral or topical, can override your biology like that. Real change comes from consistent habits and from supporting the systems your body already relies on.

And collagen sits at the centre of that.

What the research shows:
  • Skin ageing, elasticity, hydration & dermal structure
A systematic review and meta-analysis published in the International Journal of Dermatology (de Miranda et al., 2021) concluded that collagen supplementation significantly improves skin elasticity, hydration and dermal density, particularly with consistent use over 8–12 weeks.
A 2021 meta-analysis in Journal of Drugs in Dermatology (Hexsel et al., 2021) found that oral collagen peptides improved skin firmness and reduced visible signs of ageing across multiple randomised controlled trials.

  • Nail growth & reduced brittleness
A clinical study published in Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (Hexsel et al., 2017) found that daily collagen peptide supplementation increased nail growth rate by 12% and reduced broken nails by 42% over 24 weeks.

  • Hair strength, thickness & density
A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in the International Journal of Peptide Research and Therapeutics (2026) evaluated 100 adults taking collagen peptides over 24 weeks. The study reported significant improvements in hair strength, thickness, density and luster, concluding that collagen supplementation was both effective and safe for improving overall hair health.

  • Joint pain & mobility
Research in Current Medical Research and Opinion (Clark et al., 2008) showed that athletes supplementing with collagen hydrolysate experienced a significant reduction in joint pain during activity compared to placebo.

  • Gut lining & glycine support
Glycine, a key amino acid in collagen, has been shown in American Journal of Physiology studies to support intestinal barrier function and reduce inflammation in the gut lining.

  • Bioavailability of collagen peptides
Research in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (Iwai et al., 2005) confirmed that hydrolysed collagen peptides are absorbed into the bloodstream and accumulate in skin and cartilage tissue.

BOTTOM LINE?
The scientific studies are there. But what matters most is you, your stories.

We’ve seen customers experience stronger, faster hair regrowth after chemotherapy. Others managing long-term conditions, including ulcerative colitis, telling us they feel more supported, more stable, better able to manage day to day. Injuries healing more efficiently, joints feeling less reactive, movement becoming easier again.

And for many, it’s in the smaller, but just as meaningful shifts. Nails that grow without breaking. Hair that feels thicker, healthier, easier to manage. Skin that holds its structure, not just on the surface, but over time.
